TUTORING SESSIONS:
-
What does a tutor session include?
- Tutoring sessions typically take place once a week (but additional weekly sessions are available). Each session will include 5 minutes at the beginning of the session to "check in" with the parents/guardians, 50 minutes of one-on-one support, and 5 minutes to "check out" with parents/guardians to discuss the learning, future plans, and at-home practice activities.
- What should a studen bring to tutoring sessions?
- Most items including curriculum, games, and paper supplies will be supplied by the tutor. Depending on the plan for the session, the student may need to bring completed extra practice work, school/homework to be worked on, computer for school work, notes from classrom teachers, textbooks, project materials, reading book, etc.
- What if the student is late to a session?
- Studes are asked to be prompt to sessions in order to stay on schedule. If the student will be late, please notify the tutor. The session will still end at the regular scheduled time.
- What will be expected of the student after tutoring sessions?
- Extra practice work may be sent home to help support the learning between sessions. This is a decision made between the parents and the tutor and is not meant to overwhelm the child. Communication is key to ensuring a successful balance for growth.
Tutoring Semesters/Missed Sessions/Make Up Sessions
- When I sign up my student for tutoring, what is the time commitment?
- There are three Tutoring Semesters and a student is enrolled for the entire/remainder of the semester:
-
Tutoring Sessions are typically once a week and scheduled for 60 minutes (see above for "What does a tutoring session include?).
-
At Home practice activites will help a child progress and retain learning from sessions. The parent and tutor will work together to determine what this looks like so as to not overwhelm the child or the family.
-
A signed "Tutoring Commitment Agreement Form" is required at the beginnin of the semester.
-
What if my studend needs to miss a week of tutoring for any reason?
-
Please communicate as soon as possible if your child must miss a tutoring session for any reason. A minimum of eight hour prior notice (or the morning of the session to be missed) is appeciated.
-
Students may miss up to TWO sessions of tutoring each semester enrolled without payment (payment for those two sessions will be rolled over to the next month). If possible with the tutor's schedule, a make up session may be rescheduled during the same week. Make up sessions will not count towards the allowed two missed sessions in a semester.
-
If the tutor cancels a session it will not count as a missed session.
-
The tutor may schedule holiday breaks (in advance) and these will not count as missed sessions.
-
What if I need to discontinue tutoring sessions?
PAYMENT FOR SERVICES
- What is the fee for each session?
- The fee for each one hour sessions is $50.
- What is payment due?
- Payment is due in full ($200 for 4 week months or $250 for 5 week months) at the first scheduled session of each month in the form of cash, check or Venmo.
COMMUNICATION WITH THE TUTOR
- How can I communicate needs and progress to the tutor? Can my child’s teacher contact the tutor?
- Parents/guardians or classroom teachers are welcome to communicate via text or email. Also a five minute "Check in" and "Check out" time is included in every session. We are a team and I'm happy to support your child in any way possible.
